Functional Anatomy & Injury Management in Yoga: Shoulder Module
Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 2 PM – 7 PM
Empower your practice and teaching with concepts from anatomy, physiology and biomechanics.
Learning anatomy can be incredibly overwhelming, and while the training offered at the 200-hour level provides a solid foundation, it isn’t always enough to give teachers the ability to lead their students confidently and adapt the asana practice to accommodate students with pain and injury concerns.
Using a combination of lecture, discussion, demonstration, and practice, you’ll learn the most up-to-date ways to cue and adapt poses and your sequences for optimal accessibility and sustainability. In this training, we will:
(1 Break down the functional anatomy of the shoulder in a way that’s useful, clear, and accessible;
(2) Explore the latest information on how to prevent and manage the most common shoulder injuries;
(3) Learn to teach your students how to manage their own injuries and discomfort in order to practice yoga; and
(4) Gain a working knowledge of the relevant physiological concepts that will enable you to guide your students to the safe and efficient development of greater strength, stability, and mobility within their practice.
This workshop is appropriate for teachers of all styles of yoga and other movement modalities, as well as dedicated and curious students of yoga.
