My favorite little brown box arrived again this month with a whole new collection of fun, fitness goodies. Let’s get down to it!
Mediterra Energy Bars – I actually really like sesame seeds and was excited to try this new energy bar. It was so delish! It’s chewy, gluten-free, and has lots of fiber, vitamins, and minerals. I like that I can easily see what’s in it and it’s all good stuff. I’d love to see if I can find these in stores, because these would be a great thing to stash in my bag when I need a snack. They have several different varieties and flavors you wouldn’t find with other bars like olive and walnut and tomato and basil. I’m definitely curious about those!
Huma Energy Gels – I’ve actually tried these Chia gels before. I snagged one the last time I was at Whole Foods because I’m kind of obsessed with Chia seeds right now. They’re such a great little powerhouse food. I had an apple cinnamon flavored one and it was really good. It was like applesauce and gave me a nice, natural burst of energy mid-run. They included a lemonade flavor in the box and I was pleasantly surprised. It was really tasty too. It was actually refreshing. They have several flavors and even though I’m not really a fan of gels, I could make an exception with these for sure.
Purps Vitamin Supplement – This is a specially formulated vitamin supplement that you simply add to a cup of cold water. They have all the good stuff your body needs without all the artificial junk. It was grape flavored, but I was a bit worried when I tried to mix it and it didn’t really dissolve well and then I took a sip, and well, wow is a good way to describe it. It’s very grapey and very sweet, and if I think it’s too sweet, then it’s definitely too sweet! They do have other products like energy and hydration drinks which might be worth trying. You’ll find yerba mate, berries, and minerals like selenium and manganese among the ingredients which is a big plus on my list.
DermaSport Skincare – This is a skincare line designed with athletes and active lifestyles in mind and they included a cleanser, moisturizer, and eye cream to sample. Let’s just preface this by the fact that I have HORRIBLE skin issues. I thought there would be some point in my life when I could stop worrying about breaking out, but alas, the skin gods hate me apparently. I have super sensitive skin, so I’m always a little hesitant to try anything new, but I figured it couldn’t hurt. My skin has been super dry, itchy, and peeling lately, so I am in desperate need of moisture, but I don’t want to do anything with a lot of fragrance or harsh chemicals. This stuff is really gentle and my face honestly is already feeling less stressed after just a couple uses of the moisturizer. I am seriously considering the whole line if things keep going well.
RockTape – If you’ve ever had any kind of injury, but need to keep training or racing, you may have used KT Tape or RockTape. It’s basically a strong, yet stretchy tape that can be applied to just about any body part to help alleviate pain and inflammation. I was dubious of the powers of these tapes, but after some severe calf strains last year, I am now a believer. The trick is knowing how to apply it, but they included a nice little pamphlet to show you how to do just that. Keeping my fingers crossed that I won’t necessarily need it anytime soon though.
SalbaChia – Yay, more Chia seeds! I’ll add these to smoothies, yogurt, cereals, and you could even top salads with them. There’s all kinds of great nutrients in these and they provide a natural energy with low calories. If you haven’t had experience with Chia, just know they will swell with liquid and they have a bit of a gelatinous texture and will probably get stuck in your teeth, so have floss handy just in case.
GU Tabs – These are electrolyte tabs you add to water. They use xylitol vs sorbitol to help with any GI issues while you’re on the move. They help you stay hydrated and balanced. I like the ease of carrying these vs having to cart around powders. Just pop one in your water bottle and you’re good to go.
Youth Infusion – Here’s another energy supplement with some natural vitamins and minerals your body needs all the time, without the sugar, gluten, caffeine, and GMOs. It comes in powder form, so you just add it to water. It’s cheaper than a lot of its counterparts and has way better ingredients than other energy drinks on the market. I’m a fan.
And in awesome Stridebox form, they threw in a cute, little water bottle as well. Looking forward to next month and more great stuff!
